Frequently Asked Questions

What is the history behind Avalanche Dirt Work?

Avalanche Dirt Work was founded by Bruce hill in 2024. Bruce has always had a passion for operating equipment and working outdoors. What started as a childhood fascination with Tonka trucks grew into a lifelong career dedicated to land clearing, fire mitigation, and conservation. Today, Avalanche Dirt Work serves property owners across Santa Barbara County, helping them make their land safer, more usable, and better protected against fire risks.

How much does a dirt work job cost?

Every property is different, and no two jobs are exactly alike. Our pricing is based on the size of the project, the type of terrain, and the scope of work required. We’ll always provide you with a clear estimate before beginning so you know exactly what to expect.

Do you charge hourly or by the job?

Most projects are priced by the job to give you clear expectations upfront. In some cases, hourly pricing may apply, but we’ll always explain the details before starting so there are no surprises.

What is the process for working with Avalanche Dirt Work?

1st, start by filling out our online inquiry form with all the details about your project.

2nd, our team will reach out to schedule a site visit. The landowner must be present so we can walk the property together and discuss the project in detail.

3rd, we will provide an estimate and contract for the land owner to sign that outlines the job to be completed.

4th, our team will begin working on your project.

5th, once the job is finished, the land owner will receive the final invoice that reflects the agreed upon work, as well as any adjustments that arose while on site.

Do I need to be on-site during the work?

Th land owner does not have to be present while the work is being done. However, we recommend being available for a walkthrough beforehand so we can fully understand your goals and make sure the project is completed to your satisfaction.

What is the timeframe for working with Avalanche Dirt Work?

Most jobs can be completed within a few days, depending on the size of the property and the type of work needed. For larger projects, timelines may extend into weeks. When managing multiple projects at once we operate on a first come first served basis so that we are not moving equipment between jobs sights. We’ll provide a timeline estimate during your site visit so you can plan accordingly.

What types of land clearing do you offer?

Avalanche Dirt Work handles all types of brush removal and site preparation for residential, agricultural, and commercial properties. Whether you need fire lines cut, pastures cleared, or larger multi-acre projects managed, we have the equipment and expertise to get the job done safely and efficiently.

What equipment do you use?

We primarily use a skid steer with a rotary mower. This machine allows us to clear land quickly, safely, and with minimal impact to the surrounding environment. For larger or more specialized projects, we may bring in additional equipment as needed.

Can you clear small lots as well as large properties?

Absolutely. From a one acre lot to multi acre ranches, no project is too small or too large. Every job receives the same level of attention and care.

Do you remove stumps and roots?

At this time, we do not offer stump or root removal. However, we’re happy to come out and evaluate your project to see if it’s something we can take on or recommend alternatives.
