About Santa Rosa Design
Santa Rosa Design is where creativity takes shape and purpose comes alive. Founded by Bruce, this business began with something as simple as transforming discarded horse shoes into uniquely welded pieces, and has grown into a passion project that celebrates craftsmanship in every form. From blending different woods into one of a kind charcuterie boards, to designing custom builds that elevate everyday spaces, Bruce has always found joy in working with a variety of materials and mediums, including woodworking, welding, and beyond.
What started small has expanded into a portfolio as diverse as his imagination. From kitchen accents like wine racks, to large scale builds like hilltop swings and handcrafted bars, Santa Rosa Design is built on the belief that every project deserves thought, care, and artistry.
At its heart, Santa Rosa Design is about more than building things. It is about creating art that serves a purpose, giving life to ideas, and crafting pieces that tell a story. Whether your vision is something simple or something bold, Bruce brings his creativity and skill to every detail, ensuring that the end result is both meaningful and memorable.
The Man Behind the Business
Ever since I was a kid, I was drawn to Tonka trucks. They weren’t just toys, they sparked a real fascination with dirt work, machines, and building things from the ground up. I’d spend hours outside lining up trucks, digging in the dirt, and imagining myself behind the controls of real heavy equipment.
As I got older, that childhood interest never faded. I realized I could turn that passion into something real; a career built on grit, skill, and hard work. I didn’t want to sit behind a desk. I wanted to be outdoors, operating equipment, and doing something I could see and be proud of at the end of the day. That’s what led me to start Avalanche Dirt Work. Running this business isn’t just about moving dirt, it’s about building something that lasts, helping people get more from their land, and doing honest, hands on work that makes a difference. This isn’t just a job to me, it’s a way of life.
That same love of working with my hands is also what gave life to Santa Rosa Design, my first business, and my creative outlet. It started with scraps, old wood, discarded metal, and worn out horse shoes. The challenge of taking the old and turning it into something new. I built a treehouse out of salvaged lumber, garden pieces from rebar, and kitchen accents from horse shoes. Soon my room was filled with my creations, and I realized others were just as drawn to them as I was.
Santa Rosa Design became the place where I could explore that side of myself fully, creating art that is both beautiful and functional. What began as self taught tinkering grew into a deeper education in the trades once I saw the value my work could bring to others. Today, I get to design everything from small kitchen pieces to large statement projects, combining woodworking, welding, and other mediums into pieces that tell a story.
At the end of the day, whether it’s moving earth with Avalanche Dirt Work or crafting with Santa Rosa Design, my heart is in the same place. I love working with my hands and providing something real, lasting, and valuable for people to enjoy.
